Saturday July 30th, 2011 Sarah Sunday and I decided to go to Jack Astor's. When we arrived I informed the waitress that we had our  licenses and planned on medicating on the patio. I asked her if we could be seated in a place that would  not *possibly* offend or disrupt the patrons of the establishment or the staff.  She didn't know what to say and said she needed to speak to her manager. The manager arrived and we discussed cannabis, licenses and human rights. He asked us to discretely medicate as to not disrupt the patrons and thanked us for our forwardness and honesty. He wasn't aware of the policies but he understood our needs. After rolling up a joint, security came over and told  Sarah and I that we could not medicate on the patio. With a huge smile on my face and in a polite and courteous manner,  I told him he was incorrect, we were licensed and he needed to speak with the manager because this was already discussed.  He left to find the manager and another security guard came and tried to pull the same business and was given the same reply. Finally the manager came back and informed us that the liquor laws say we cannot use a banned substance on the patio but since it is not banned for us, there wasn't much they could do. After clearing the air and educating the manager, we lit our joints and enjoyed the rest of the night (which was filled with more educating)

This blog is kinda all over the place. It's been a busy few weeks so I want to update you on all that's been going on...
 
 
   On June 17, 2011 Health Canada released proprosed improvments to the MMAR program  that got me a little wound up. More specifically, in Section 4.2   where it states "Personal and designated production would be phased out." 

   As a PPL holder, I can control the quality and strains that I need to medicate with by growing my medicine myself. If the PPL and DG licenses get phased out, I will only be able to rely on commercial growers to supply my medicine for me. Health Canada's current commercial supplier has disappointed many with their one strain selection. Who is to say that the new commercial growers will have the strains that alleviate MY symptoms? If they don't ..... what do I do then? I decided to write a letter as suggested in the proposed changes and give them my opinion. It may fall on deaf ears but atleast I tried and voiced my opinion. I encourage others to do the same. Denying people who are already compromised the option of self sustaining is absolutly insane. Cannabis will not be covered under a drug plan as there no plans to give it a DIN number (from my understanding) So if or when we cannot afford our medicine we can't even rely on our health care system to cover the costs... SHAME ON THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT!! Here is a link so you can check out the proposed changes for yourself. We have until July 31st to send in comments and suggestions.    On July 2nd  I attended Oshawa's Cannabis Day. It was my first time attending (and their 2nd annual event) I was surprised at the great turn out. People were playing Frisbee, taking pictures, medicating and there was even a drum circle. The event was very interactive  with contests, speeches and a march that started at 4:20 ( go figure, lol). I met a bunch of baby Bulldogs and spent lots of time sitting in the shade hitting my bong, chatting with new and old friends.   It was a very peaceful gathering without any police incidents. I was glad I went and will definitely attend next year!

     July 7th I was on the Dean Blundell Radio Show. When I arrived, the lady at the desk thought I was a Bud girl. The Budweiser girls were also on the show promoting Edgefest on the weekend. I laughed hard when I figured it out and said " No, No. I'm Amy Anonymous..THE bud girl" It was hilarious. We all laughed and I was then escorted to the greenroom by Derek to wait for my turn on the air.

     I got called into the studio and Dean and Todd introduced themselves, we talked about what we couldn't talk about and then we were on the air. I explained the differences in sativas and indicas and different ways to medicate. Towards the end Dean almost made me cry with his kind words. Yea, I know I'm a little sensitive but it's passion driven so all is good. I was truely flattered to be on the show and given so to be given the amount of time I was to talk about cannabis.       Before I end this blog I wanted to mention something that is fresh on my mind. Yesterday I was with a friend when he received news that somebody close to him was just diagnosed with bone cancer. Obviously he was concerned and I assume feeling a bit helpless but wanting to help. I told him a bit about the Rick Simpson oil and told him to tell her. Maybe she would be interested. Maybe she would do a bit of research. Maybe I could help her if she chose to try this route of treatment along with the standard treatment she will be going through. I forgot to add that she does not currently medicate with cannabis.

     Today I posted a question on a social media site asking if anybody knew of somebody that could help this womam. As I assume you are aware, I am an active member in Toronto's cannabis community so it is much easier for me to try and find this lady help than it would be for her, somebody that does not use cannabis and was just diagnosed with cancer, to find it on her own. There were many positive comments back and forth. It was great - a community coming together to assist. One person was concerned about the safety of me mentioning oil a.k.a. a concentrate of cannabis, and was offended that I would post such a question. 

    I would like to say I am offended that another human being would be offended by my quest to possibly help a woman live longer.  Everyday I jeopardize my freedom because of a plant I believe in. Smart decision? Maybe not on paper but in my heart I know it's right!  Everyday I see cannabis change people's lives. It dramatically increased the quality of mine - it just can't be denied!!! I really, really REALLY hope that more people stand up and try to help others that can't or don't know how to help themselves.  I've said this before and I'll probably say it a million more times: The stigma attached to cannabis needs to be removed - CANNABIS SAVES!!!! - please spread the word

* I'd like to go on record saying that I cannot confirm cannabis will cure cancer. Many people have claimed that this treatment has cured their cancer.  I have never been diagnosed with cancer and used this treatment..but I definitely think it's worth a try!
