The Under The Influence of Music tour was in Toronto August 10th. Wiz Khalifa, ASAP Rocky, Trinidad James and a slew of other artists were scheduled to hit the stage- obviously I wanted to check this out! I listen to most of these guys on my way to work. This was def gonna be a good show.
Saturday morning I did my usual stuff. A little retail therapy, a quick stop at Chuck - E- Cheese, Blizzards at DQ and some baking. I didn’t know if I was going to the show or not so I made some extra baked goods just incase. If you don’t know this about me by now, I LOVE greeting artists/entertainers with fabulous meds when they perform in our city. I think it’s good to show love to our guests so when I can - I do!
I got a phone call from Lola in the late afternoon asking me if I could come down to the Molson Amphitheatre to meet up with ASAP Rocky and the ASAP Mob. “Yup! Yup I could” I replied. I called my girl LiLi up and told her to make her way to my place so we could get downtown asap (no pun intended!) I got ready, grabbed some cookies, candies and my smokable medicine. By the time I was done organizing my stuff LiLi showed up. We quickly left and started driving downtown to the venue. What was normally a half hour (tops) drive took us almost 2 hours because of traffic and road conditions - BALLS! After a bit of frustration, impressive tactical driving and a lil road rage - we made it!
Lola came and met us at the said gate and brought us to the back. She introduced me to so many people that (I’m not gonna lie) it was hard for me to remember everybody’s names. We saw Joey Bada$$ & his team sitting at the dining tables so we joined them for a smoke and chatted for a bit. I had met him at Yonge and Dundas Square earlier in the summer during NXNE - he put on a helluva show! Before we left the table I gave him a couple candies and cookies and told him to enjoy and that I’d see him later on. Lola brought us upstairs where we met up with Chubbs (OVO) and then went into the ASAP Mob’s dressing room. We said our hellos and introductions and then continued our tour of the back (lol). Next, Trinidad James dressing room. He wasn’t there but his DJ was. Lola introduced us and we chilled for a minute while she signed a skateboard. I showed him some Toronto luv and then we were off to the stage for ASAP Rocky and the ASAP Mob’s set.
Most shows I go to are after 10:00. Usually it’s all dark and you just see people’s silhouettes bouncing around. I’m not used to events in broad daylight so to me it was dang kewl to be able to see the details of the absolute awe and amusement on the attendees faces. The energy on the stage was insane too! ASAP Rocky & the ASAP Mob were all over the stage- asking the audience questions, encouraging them to sing along. The fans were LOVING it! Joey Bada$$ joined ASAP Rocky on stage to perform “One Train” and before the set ended he performed “Fuckin Problems” and it got LOOOUD! I think every single person there knew the words to that song.. and went ape sh!t the second they heard the opening beat.
After ASAP Rocky’s performance, Lili and I went out back for a smoke. ASAP Illz came out and escorted us back upstairs to the dressing room. Finally, I could sit down and roll a proper blunt. Only problem was, I forgot my Backwoods at home and didn’t grab any at a store on the way because I thought I was already stocked. BALLS!! Thankfully ASAP Lou had me covered. (If you’re reading this THANK YOU so much! Me not having backwoods on me is...well, it’s unheard of!) I sat down and rolled up some Pink Kush and Orangina. Next thing I know I see a tuna can being handed to ASAP Rocky - it’s Tuna Kush in a can! Normally I see that in a large freezer bag so it was kinda kewl to see it in it’s packaging.. kewl enough that I had to take a picture of it!

Typical me, as soon as the can was opened, I scoped it with my 420 Scope. It looked (and was) gooood! I passed the microscope around so everybody else could see what they were smoking too. ASAP Rocky asked if we had met before- which we hadn’t. I had actually met his manager and passed off some gifts for him while he was in Toronto a year or so ago.”Ohhh you were the one who made me that basket. Thank you!” he said. I smiled (and probably blushed a bit) To me, that is the utmost flattery and like I always say, I’m passionate about what I do.
Rolling, smoking, vaping, chatting - In walks Trinidad James! I was introduced to his music by a friend last fall and have been a fan ever since. Unfortunately I missed watching him perform BUT it was great to be able to meet him. B.O.B came by, the Weeknd stopped in. The dressing room was crazy!

Wiz was on stage so LiLi and I left for a bit to go watch his set. It was now dark outside and half the crowd was waving their cellphones in the air. There was an enormous lighter and joint running back and forth during “Young, Wild and Free” The crowd was LIVE!! Just before Wiz and the Taylor Gang finished up their set, they brought all the artists on stage to perform with them. It was unreal! After that LiLi and I went back to the dressing room to say our goodbyes. There was an afterparty at Muzik but there was nooooo way I was going there. I had to get home and go back to work. I hugged everybody and told them I’d see them next time they were in the city, handed out a few more cookies and candies, then left.
I got home and had to bake some more. When work was finally done I went to my bedroom, rolled a blunt with the Backwoods I had forgotten earlier, smoked a bit of it and then passed the funk out! All that awesomeness tired me out
Until the next blog...
LotsaLove!!
