I had an idea. I wanted to give milk and cookies to people living on the streets of downtown Toronto.  After thinking about it for a month it was time to put this plan into action. I posted on Facebook what I wanted to do and asked if anybody was able to donate. I wanted to add a pair of gloves and a hat to my offerings. I had many fantastic friends reach out and donate funds, hats, gloves and even cannabis. I told Tyler, the manager at Sobeys on Yonge Street, about what I wanted to do and he gave me a rockin' deal on milk.  I was elated because I love giving and I LOVE seeing people come together to help out others.
Here is a video of "Milk and Cookies (and Hats and Gloves) AND Cannabis for the Homeless 2011"
I really hope to make this an annual event!

THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY THAT GOT INVOLVED TO MAKE THIS IDEA A REALITY - Together we put smiles on many people's faces!

This is truly altruistic behaviour. Governments all over the world turn a blind eye to the pain and sufferation of homelessness. Its good to know that some people still have heart. ^.^

Blessings to all those who made this happen.
In a very small way for some on Yorkville Ave in Toronto in 1967 I decided a bonanza of small sorts justified my giving some small gifts to some I'd not had that opportunity with previously.
It is good to see that there are those who are in the position to do this actually do. Merry Christmas everyone. My the right cloud come your way.

Hey Amy, I stop in to check your blogs from time to time and just viewed your recent video. You had me smiling the whole time as you were out there brightening up the homeless' day. It's great to see random acts of kindness like this, inspiring to say the least. Just wanted to drop a quick line and remind you how "FREAKIN AWESOME" you are!

Take care, I'm around for the New Year, hopefully if your not too busy we'll catch up then.

Ciao4now!

I love your spirit and the positivity re: medicinal maryjane. But why did pot have to be a part of these care packages? The homeless need nutrients, not THC. This video was more about you and quasi-fame.

Had it been thought through properly you would realize that this type of publicity lessons the respect for your opinion during debates. "Oh, you're the woman who handed out drugs to homeless people? NEXT!" This video just appeals to the average stoner who could give a flying fu*k for medical usage of pot.

Act responsibly if you want to represent medicinal maryjane progress.

"I am not promoting the illegal use of cannabis." Looks to me that's exactly what you're doing. Giving homeless people drugs - with whom you have no idea whether or not they are pain sufferers?

The homeless have very high instances of schizophrenia and other mental issues which can be worsened by weed.

Smarten up people. This is not generosity and kindness, this is a misguided publicity stunt from a woman who's desire for fame is trumping what is best for the movement.

Sorry you feel that way JJ but all were aware of what they were receiving. There are plenty of nutrients in milk and many carbs and fat in the cookies. I guess all I can say is what have YOU done lately?

I know I rounded up MANY people to make this happen! Everybody involved was THRILLED to be a part of giving- ESPECIALLY during the holiday season. And the recipients were even more elated. You are stereotyping homeless people by saying they all have skitzophrenia and that is quite insulting. I'm not sure if you are aware BUT cannabis DOES help with depression, anxiety AND generally is a mood inhancer(sativa) .. So know your facts before you judge.. Quasi fame sounds like somebody's upset they didn't get to take part.

LOTSA LOVE!!!!
